CloneCD is a software tool that lets you make exact copies of almost any CD or DVD. It works with movie, music and data disks, which makes it a perfect solution for those who want to create backup copies of discs that they own.

Previously, copying CDs was very easy, however with newer copyright protection methods employed on many titles, especially games, it has become a bit more tricky. However, this doesn't mean that you can't create backup copies of CDs and DVDs that you own. You would just need to get the right software that is able to get past the copy protection mechanisms and allow you to make the copy.

While this tool was originally intended to let users create an exact 1:1 copy of their CDs and DVDs, some new features have been added to it recently. One of them is the ability to choose exactly what you want to copy from the media you've inserted in your drive. This is particularly useful with music CDs, when you want to copy just certain tracks. Or video DVDs, if you want to copy only a specific language and audio that is present in the movie. CloneCD was designed to work at full speed when handling DVDs, so you will not have to wait hours before your backup is ready.

You do not need to have any special hardware to use CloneCD. In fact, any CD or DVD drive will work fine. Of course, if you want to burn the result onto a new disc, you will need to have either a CD or a DVD writer available. Slysoft, the developers behind CloneCD, have put a lot of effort into their creation over the last few years. This can be seen as you go through the version history, as they have fixed various security and performance issues with this newer version of CloneCD. This ensures that you get optimal performance when doing backup and cloning tasks with their software.

Even though the software is quite powerful and functional, there are still a few minor drawbacks to it. With some encrypted discs, the decryption and subsequent copying can take a long time. There are also some issues with the software running slower on certain models of CD and DVD drives.
